Michael Smith serves as the Senior Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of The Estee Lauder Companies. He was hired in 2017, after taking a one-year sabbatical to be present for his son’s senior year of high school in a way that he was unable to with his previous work at Mylan. He brings nearly three decades of experience and expertise to the company, and he’s proud to continue working with Estee Lauder for years to come. 

At The Estee Lauder Companies, Michael Smith reports directly to Tracy Travel, the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the company. When he was hired, Ms. Travel had the following to say during a press release interview:

Michael Smith of Estee Lauder: Team Leadership

Michael Smith is a respected leader who has served as the CIO and Senior Vice President of The Estee Lauder Companies since he accepted the position in late 2017. He’s passionate about leadership and innovation, and he recently delivered keynotes at multiple C-level conferences across North America on the topic. He also has recent experience mentoring several executive professionals on the principles of team leadership and innovation, and he hopes to continue sharing his knowledge with the professional work and making a difference in the lives of others. Mr. Smith previously worked with Nike as an IT Executive for over twenty years, and then with Mylan as the Global Head of Digital and Innovation.

In addition to public speaking, mentorship, and serving his role with The Estee Lauder Companies, Michael Smith also serves in Board advisory positions for three companies. As a Board member, he can assist CEOs and Founders of digital marketing, software, and life sciences companies in refining their visions. Mr. Smith is also the founder of Boma Technologies, a consulting company that also allowed him to assist fellow professionals with bringing their visions to life.
